Profile: The Institute of BioMechanical Research & Technology (BIOMECH) develops activities in the area of translational research in collaboration with Universities, Hospitals and other Institutions. It is located in Larisa.

Role in the Project/Tasks Attributed: WP Leader for WP-4, Signal Analysis and Software development and WP-5, Design & Analysis of load application apparatus for phased UT array. Also input into WP- 3 Development methods for phased UT sensor arrays and techniques and WP-6, Experimental study & evaluation of completed system.

Staff involved: Vasilis Spais has extensive expertise in designing and assembling components as well as in project management. He will be supported by a team of qualified mechanical and design engineers.

Benefits to the Consortium: BioMech is a centre of excellence for software development, robotics and sensors and have been involved in several EU funded projects involving NDT, Condition Monitoring and Structural Health Monitoring in the past including FP 5 and FP 6.

Reasons for Participation: BioMechhas expertise in electronics and software design for NDT and Condition monitoring. They have been invited by the consortium members (SME-AGs) to participate in the Ship-Inspector project. They will use their expertise in electronics and software implementation for developing the condition monitoring system of ship inspection.
