Profile: CERETETH is a non profit entity organisation established in 2006 under the auspices of General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Greek Ministry of Development.
The Centre's main mission is to conduct basic, applied and technological research that leads to new products and services with industrial, economic and social impact.
CERETETH's organisation includes the Central Administration and four Institutes:
- The Mechatronics Institute (IMTRONICS)
- The Institute of Technology and Management of Agricultural Eco-systems (ITEMA)
- The Institute of BioMechical Research & Technology (BIOMECH)
- The Institute of Human Performance & Rehabilitation (PerfoTech)
Role in the Project/Tasks Attributed: WP leader for WP-3, Development of methods for phased UT sensor arrays and techniques. Also input into WP-4, Signal Analysis and Software development & WP-5, Design & Analysis of load application apparatus for phased UT array.
Staff involved: Dr Giannis Giakas Biomechanics and Interdisciplinary research coordinator.
Benefits to the Consortium: Cereteth is a centre of excellence for the R & D of sensors and MFC transducer and array developments and they will be bringing their considerable experience in these fields to the project consortium.
Reasons for Participation: The consortium has selected Cereteth (IMATRONICS group) due to their expertise in signal processing and sensor technology development. They have customised sensors and coupling techniques that are required by the Ship-Inspector project. Imatronics want to assist the SMEs and SME-AGs in the developing the Ship-Inspector prototype and extend the application of their sensors for ship hull inspection and repair/maintenance. Shipping is vital to the Greek economy and they are strongly supported by the Greek government through the R & D Ministry.
