The I &T NARDONI INSTITUTE Italy
Profile: I&T were established in 1988 with the aim to introduce advanced techniques in the traditional NDT field. The main activity of the Company is Non-Destructive Testing using the following methods: X-Ray , Ultrasonic test , Eddy current , Magnetic particle , Penetrant test , Acoustic emission , Stress measurements strange gages , Barkhausen method , Visual test , AC field
The company is based on 42 years experience of the founder in NDT, examinations applied to the following fields: Chemical, Petrochemical, Nuclear, Fossil, Hydro power plant, Civil structures, Aircraft, Automotive, Steel plant, Machinery.
The products and materials examined have been the following: Castings, Forgings, Welds in carbon and austenitic steel, Composite materials, Aluminium laminates and castings, Titanium.
In the ultrasonic area I&T has developed advanced computerized techniques for the full automated acquisition of examination data.
OFD, C-B-Scan, D-scan, P-Scan, Phase Array have been extensively used on pressure vessel examination, forgings, and plates as components. Special techniques for austenitic welds examinations have been developed; assistance, training have been performed also abroad (S. Korea, Nigeria, Canada, Australia, UK, Singapore).
X-Ray; I&T has experience in low, medium, high energy radiation (betatron, accelerators)
Computerised Tomography together with Spectrum Microscopy has been developed.
Role in the Project/Tasks Attributed: To survey the ship building, repair/maintenance market in Italy, its current and future needs (WP 1), to input into the training & certification needs (WP 7), to provide & facilitate dissemination &and exploitation plans and organise National Conferences.
Staff involved: Mr Guiseppe Nardoni is the Director and owner of the company
Benefits to the Consortium: I&T are a leading technique development and service inspection company who operate LRUT services in a number of industries and are therefore ideally placed to bring their site applications experience of the LRUT technique
Reasons for Participation: I&T want to expand their LRUT capability into new market sectors and see that they have a potential to be one of the first SMEs into this market that is being strongly backed in the consortium by the Shipping Certification Authorities.
