ISOTEST ENGINEERING S.r.l.
Profile: Isotest was founded in 1981 to provide engineering, design, software development and assembly of automation systems and NDT equipment to satisfy individual customer needs. Its main interest is focussed on diversification of its client base and consequently on diversification of NDT applications. Ultrasound systems for example, have many applications in different production activities and Isotest places great importance on the training of its own engineers in order to provide the customers with a high level of service. The aim of professional improvement of expertise has been achieved by ISO with its presence in Brite-Euratom projects.
ISO is also participating in a joint venture with a Romanian company for the NDT market within the framework of JOPP programme. The ultrasonic based positioning and guidance system developed through this project will complement the existing Isotest products, which include a positioning and guidance system that it is currently developing for robots operating in large areas on ground. The present system will mean that Isotest will be able to diversify into the robotics and robotic navigation market
Role in the Project/Tasks Attributed: To survey the ship building, repair/maintenance market in Italy (together with I&T - see above) its current and future needs (WP 1), to input into the training and certification needs (WP 7), to provide and facilitate dissemination and exploitation plans & to help I&T organise National Conferences.

Benefits to the Consortium: Isotest will bring their engineering, design, software development & assembly of automated NDT systems & equipment capability to the project that will be of significant help to the RTD developers. Also they will input into advising on the manufacturing & in-service inspection techniques as applied to the shipping industry.
Reasons for Participation: Isotest want to expand their business area to include LRUT technology and service applications as they are already a provider of UT and phased array integrated systems and services and they see this project as a natural progression into an NDT business area that is strongly supported by the Ship Certification Authorities.
